There is a ton of conflicting info out there on cichlids.

Ive been trying to find out what my 'Ice blue zebra' really is..
It was listed at the store as pseudotropheus greshaki.. but I dont think thats what it is.

Then I went looking for more info on my 'Red Zebra' listed at the store as pseudotropheus zebra. I found it on fishgeeks listed as pseudotropheus estherae , but its listed on the cichlid-forums as maylandia estherae...

Supposedly a pretty tuff aggressive little cichlid... but my new one got his but kicked by my yellow lab.

Pseudotropheus estherae was reclassified a little while back to Maylandia estherae, and now to Metriaclima estherae. I guess they are all right, just a reclassification. To hardcore cichlid nuts saying Pseudotropheus estherae would be wrong now ;)

Thing with cichlids is, they can all have different personalities. I have had my share of whimpy Mbuna and my share of aggressive ones. Sometimes you just never know, i think the whole aggressive, simi-aggressive, etc is just a general guidline. I have a tank now of yellow labs and they are like a basket of puppies. My red zebra a year back was one of the most aggressive i've kept.

Could your "Ice Blue" be a Cobalt Blue, Metriaclima callainos?

Maylandia has not yet officially been replaced by Metriaclima. Metriaclima however holds more scientific value than Maylandia and is now widely accepted as what should be the proper Genus name by most hobbyists and ichthyologists.
To make things even more confusing, only mbuna of the zebra complex (M. zebra, estherae, callainos, greshakei, fainzilberi, etc.) were moved to Maylandia. Those not in the Zebra complex are still Pseudotropheus. I wonder if the same will ever happen to the elongatus complex.
Anyhoo, http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/category.php?cat=2 <- this would be a good site to look through if you can't figure out your mbuna's ID. If you could get a picture of it we'd be happy to try and ID it for you here! *SUPERSMIL
