Browsing through a Drs Foster and Smith catalog, I noticed that they have two different types of driftwood - regular and Malaysian. I haven't seen Malaysian driftwood at my LFS, so I'm unfamiliar with the stuff. The description says that it sinks in water. That's about all it says. Can anyone tell me more about it? Does it lower the pH like regular driftwood?

if you also look at my 125 on the "rate my tank" section the large stump in the middle of my tank is malaysian driftwood, which i feel is far superior and worth the money.

if you do a lot of water changes or if you water is already fairly hard, you will likely notice little (if any) change in your ph.

i would go for it, and i myself am looking to get more in the future.

See, problem is, my tank is only a 10 gal, and already has a small piece of regular driftwood in it that keeps the pH at a good 6. The tap is also acidic, 6.something, I forget what exactly. So no more driftwood in my tank.

I was just being curious about the malaysian stuff really. If I get a bigger tank anytime soon, though, perhaps I'll get some malaysian driftwood for it, because I really like the look of it.

Oh, and Managuense, what is it that you find superior about the driftwood?
