male or female?

I just purchased this little one recently, and have no idea whether it is male or female. I wasn't able to find a visible egg spot, so is it a pretty safe bet to count it as a male?

Just show the fishy a mirror and see if he flares up.

Looks like a male to me too, see how long the anal and ventral fins are (the bottom fin and the "feelers")?

FYI, bettas and such don't have egg spots (I *think* only cichlids do), and even if they did, it would be the males that have them and the females that generally do not.

That's a male crowntail he's just young yet

Mine is very mature he has full finage
