Male-vs-Female Peacock

What is the easiest and surest way to tell the difference between juvenile male and female Peacock cichlids?

Its hard. What size are we talking? 2-3" i would think you could tell the color coming out on a male. Also the dorsal fin on males will, or should be slightly pointed at that age. The females will be more rounded.

A sure fire way to get a breeding pair/group is to buy a few and grow them out.

No an aulonacara from Lake malawi normally. As is normal for nonpairingm outhbrooders, don't keep just a sngle female or it will leada short and miserable life
