mantis?

help me identify this creature please... has a tail like a lobster,claws like a lobster found it hiding under a rock ill post a picture in a few mintues

thats a pistol shrimp dude, good thing to have they are wicked cool and can pair with gobies, he should be fine in your tank, will make a burrow and everything, just make sure your LR is stable

i just read that pistol shrimp are often confused for mantis shrimp and have one big claw just like this... dam gotta love digi cameras i found this little guy and within 15 minutes he was identifyed *PEACE!*

if you get a better pic of his coloring and apearance i could tell you where he is from and what kind he is.

the pistol shrimp died... i came home from work and the crabs were eating him.. guess i stressed him out when i took him out to identify him
i wonder where he came from any ways

they are very hardy, and often survive the trip inside LR and often are mistaken for mantis

they sound a lot like mantis shrimp, the little clicking that they both make sound very similar

i wouldnt call the clicking little, my pistol is in the next room and has woken me from a dead sleep on many occasions from all his popping, but yea the sounds are very similiar
