marine filters for freshwater?

I know this might sound dumb, but can you use a filter for a marine tank in a freshwater tank? I realize you can't use a freshwater filter in the marine because of the saltwater, but I am not sure if they do anything special to a filter that would prevent it form being used in freshwater. I'm specifically looking at the Ehem 2328.

No , it's ok , they just remove any exposed metal parts
