i want to add marine sand on top my crushed coral, just a thin spread enough for stars and sanddiggers

this won't really work. the sand will naturally sink to the bottom and the crushed coral will move to the top

There is this option : move your cc in the back of the tank and put the sand in the front. This can also lead to a mess, like crushing little inverts and cloud your water...but i've seen this work. The ugly cc stays out of sight while the beautiful sand can be seen.
My girlfriend bought me fine sand and i put juste a very little on top of some cc just to see.. a good % can stay on top, but in a couple of months, it'll be under the cc 4 sure. I put the sand next to my front panel to see it sink under.

Pull the cc out. They'll mix and form a fairly difficult mass to work with
