measured KH was 110... isn't that high????

I finallly went and got a GH and KH test.

Well, the GH came up 160, (water plant said the total hardness was 140- I'm thinking this is the same thing). Well, figured it was higher than the 140 cause we get those orange deposits in our shower.

Then the KH test came out 110. Isn't that major high? The booklet just says it's an excellent buffer. But it seems that most sites show fish compatability with under 20 KH. Is 110 bad?

Thanks. fyi it was a test tube kit and had to do each drop separately. Took 11 drops to get the KH color to change, and 8 drops for the GH to change.

Lotus, I'm not sure what an AP test is, but this one is a test tube and you have to check each drop you put in. Its by nutrafin/hagen if that matters.

Well, I saw on the back of the booklet it gives a conversion table for about five other ways.

one is the dH* or /ou/o/gH*

GH ppm 160 x .056 = 8.96
KH ppm 110 x .056 = 6.16

This makes more sense to me giving all the websites I see never show compatability in ppms, but in numbers like 1-20.

So I'm thinking I'm probably okay. Thanks!
