medication question

I am treating my tank right now with Rid Ich which has malchite green and I know your supposed to take the carbon out but what about ammonia cartridge can they stay in while I'm treating the tank.

I really don't know either for sure, but during my personal treatments I've taken all filter/cartridges, leaving on the bio-wheel going.

I would've even removed the biowheel. Rid-ich can damage biological activity in them.

Ammonia and carbon cartridges must be removed. Anything that absorbs chemicals in the tank will also remove the medication from the water, thus rendering it useless.

I actually don't have a bio wheel in my tank it has just the sponges. My filters are the Whisper 60 gallon.
