Jerry and Juno are both offspring of the same parents, and they will eventually be mated to produce offspring of their own. Taking that into consideration, I thought that 'Juno' was a fitting name for the female cray (esp. when you look at the origins of this name in Roman mythology, in which Juno is sister and wife of Jupiter and Roman goddess of women, marriage, and childbirth).

She is smaller than some of the other females I could have kept, but I chose her on account of the purplish-pink markings that appear much more prominently on her than on most of the other crays.

She still has a lot of growing to do before she will be ready to be introduced to Jerry.

I'll start a "Jerry & Juno's Journey" thread in the Breeding section of the forum as soon as they're ready to 'do the deed,' lol. :p

You spelt it correctly. :D
Jerrica was traded in at an LFS...there wasn't room in my tanks to keep her as a pet and raise the other crays, and she was way too big to be expected to mate with one of her sons, lol. So I decided to devote my tank space to the littluns' instead. ;)

Perhaps way down the line, after multiple generations, but for now it should be okay. If I decide to have a third batch (i.e. after Jerry & Juno's batch), then I'll bring in some new genetics...but that's still a long ways off...

The purplish-pink coloring will probably stay...I hope!
Matter of fact, I've seen ones at the LFS which are just about full-grown and have a lot of purple-pink on them...they look stunning! Hard to say for sure with Juno though---none of her siblings really seem to have that coloring, as far as I can tell.

Thanks Gerald.
I feed almost exclusively Wardley 'Shrimp Pellet Formula.' Of course, Juno happens to also get Hikari 'First Bites' and crushed up flake foods as she performs clean-up duty in the con fry tank. :D

Wow BV, Juno is beautiful. Not camera shy either. Can't wait till her and Jerry are old enough to be naughty, so we can all live vicariously through them *silly grin*

Here's a question for you... What % of the cray born in your last batch, would you say made it past the first month mark, second month mark, and so forth?

Your LFS must love you.

Lol...thanks!
No more tanks for me though---not while I'm still living in this apt. Well, not entirely true...I'll probably pick up a 2nd 3 gal. Eclipse setup just for Juno, but that'd be it.

Good question, but nearly impossible to tell. There were just so many of them in a tank with so much cover that it made it virtually impossible to see them all at any given time. Not to mention their different growth rates, which made it even more confusing. Sorry I can't give a straight answer, lol.
