I have a cute little 5 gallon tank, and I was wondering if it was okay to use metal decorations in an aquarium. Just asking, because I want to put a metal or plastic D20 in there. Which would be safer? Thanks!

I wouldn't put metal in your tank. Stick with decorations that are MADE to be put in fish tanks, anything else and you risk the chance of tank contamination.

Example: When I was very young with my small 5 gallon, I put a glass horse figurine in my tank figuring it was glass and would be ok. All the fish died as the paint on the figurine dissolved in the water overnight. Very sad.

metal= no, no no.
plastic... well, I guess it's safe as long as it's in decorations meant for aquarium purposes... otherwise it may release painting and glue and what not. I would stick to natural decorations, like river rocks and safe wood. prettier and safer.
