I am thinking of upgrading my lights for my 20 gallon tank and don't now which is the best fixture to get. In the coming future I am going to change my 55 gallon tank to reef or maybe get a bigger tank like 80G to 90G. All i want to know is what is the best Light fixture for a 20 gallon tank and maybe later it can be used for a 55 gallon or bigger tank by just purchasing another 24" light as for the 20 gallon. I am kinda confused. I will definitely go for a bigger reef tank sometime next month or a little later. Should I just wait until I get a bigger tank and get a 48" Metal halide fixture. I need suggestions for a 24" metal halide fixture and a 48" Metal halide fixture. I want to get the Best!! money is not an issue. The next reef project will have the best equipment and I don't want people saying that you can't keep that coral because your lighting is not good enough. So any suggestions are welcomed.

Brand Name would be good!!

I suggest a pendant... you really get alot out of them as far as high halide lighting and you can literally put them on any size tank, great for upgrading. I have a coralife 10,000K 150w pendant and a 14,000K 250w low profile reefstar and they are great. Icecap makes decent pendants too.

Then there is the actinics/halides/maybe vhos all incorporated systems.. tend to be a bit more money. Outer orbit makes this Reef Aquarium Lighting: Outer Orbit HQI/Compact Fluorescent/Lunar Fixture though I dont have any personal expirience in the product. Thats basically what the incorporated choice of halide fixture is like.

correct me if im wrong but isnt Hamilton light a pretty good brand?

the very best is the DIY lights because if u do it right its adjusted to your needs.

pendants are really expensive...but seen some good LFS that have them.

Pendants arent really that expensive, I picked up the 250w reefstar for $312 shipped to my door.

Havnt used the brand but its a decent light, wonder if anyone here has had one. The thing with those combos is the pcs are really un-needed next to the mh, but they do the job.

That would be great. Where did you find the 250 watt one. The ones on Dr fosters and smiths are more powerful. 496 Watts and 696 watts.
