does anyone know anything about mineral deposits building up in tubes of ur filters.  I have an eheim filter and the tubes are too long for a brush.  My kh is about 6 drops and gh about 8.
Tank size is 50 gal

I use vinegar to clean mineral deposits and a razor blade for the thick stuff.  I let the vinegar sit on the deposit for awhile if it's stubborn.   *thumbsupsmiley*   Water deposits generally can't be helped, unless you somehow remove the minerals from your water.  Some people have water softers attached to their tap water, but I don't think this would make safe water for fish.

Quite the opposite.

Because I keep live plants and discus, I bought a reverse osmosis filter. This removes pretty much all mineral elements from the water. Not only is it great for fish and plants, but there is almost no mineral deposit left at the water line.
