mixing south american ciclids

ok i think oscars are part of the south american ciclids but i could be wrong...but if they were could i put an oscar with a bunch of green severums?

Maybe, maybe not. That's the honest answer. Depends on the tank size and the indiviual fish so it's near impossible to say if it will work

They are from the same part of the world - but that doesn't make them compatable.....

I had this mix a while back - they got on OK until the Sevs paired up and staked out a corner of the tank as a nest. The Oscars swim where they want to go - including that corner - so the Sevs would attack and the Oscars fought back - chaos - had to lose the Sevs in the end.
