Modifiying Tank rim.

I have a AC 30 fiter that I would like to add to my 75G tank but the rim on the tank it too wide. by 1/4 of an inch. I was wondering if I could notch it so I can add the filter. It would only need to be wide enough for the uptube. It would be 1/4 X 1/2 inch.

it would work fine, even if its eurobrace it would work just use a razorblade, or a dremel...ive done it many times and never had a problem.
