Hi, I hope someone can give me an idea as to what is happening. I have a 45 gal tank that I had to move 2 weeks ago (new floors were installed). I cleaned tank with an approved cleaner and added new gravel (rinsed well).
Fish were fine for a few days. I noticed 2 baby mollies had disappeared & 1 died (not sure why,was bent a little bit by base of tail). Then I noticed 1 med sized molly is bent (more towards the middle) & seems to be staying near the bottom (sometimes floats straight up & down). Almost looks like scales may be starting to pop out (like dropsy) but its hard to tell.
Before I moved tank I had 1 die of dropsy, but it didn't bend like that. Now I have 3 more that look like they are starting to bend. Most of the fish seem to hang out near the bottom third of the tank.
I had the following when I re-set up my tank:
1 angel fish,
1 t-bone (rasbora),
1 pregnant molly (not very big yet),
4 teenage mollies,
13 baby mollies (less than 1 inch long).
I used water conditioner, aquarium salt, & stress coat.
Water temp is 78/79. No ammonia or nitrites, Nitrates<20, Alkalinity =80, PH=7.
Previous tank conditions tested ok (nitrates were a little high=80) & tank looked clean. But when I cleaned the gravel (after the fish were out) it was a pretty ugly sight. Most of the fish stayed near the bottom. After I cleaned it they were all over the place.
Sorry this is so long, but I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction. Thank you for any advice.
