mollies

right now i have 1 male Balloon Molly, 1 male Hi Fin Lyretail Swordtail, and 2 Lyretail Molly(1 white and 1 black)
every thing is at 0
water=soft
pH level=7.2-7.4
temp.=77-80f
50 gal tank with 4 angels
my question is will the mollies breed?
also will the sword breed with the mollies?

As far as swordtails mating with mollies, I doubt it, but hey, who knows, mine have never attempted, however when i first put a male dalmation molly in my tank, it did try to mate with my female black lyretail molly, but eventually seemed to go to the dalmation mollies, maybe he was confused . Mollies should mate lots, my tank is constantly producing babies, of which i rescue many and put into a breeding net (with some hiding spots even in their for them, ie floating or sinking plastic plants). As for angels in tank with them, I can't help you there whether they will really go after the babies quickly and eat them or not?

the white and balloon seem to be getting use to the tank now but the white molly seem to be doing better then the balloon.
the ballon still spends most of his time by himself

Swords are to distantely related ot mollies....and evne if they could.....its not wise. Swordtials will breed with platies...and thats where all the high fin platies come from. So Im unsure of whether or not the swords we have in hte hobby now are really genuine swordtails.


So don't try hybridizing fish...as it could cause some problems.

i'm not trying to breed them it's just that i have them in the same tank.
also, the swordtail always stay at the bottom of the tank and won't come up to eat. why this?
