I obviously understand the concept of a "moonlight" bulb, but what exactly is it (from a technical perspective - watts, lumens, wavelenght etc)?

Also, does anyone make a "clip-on" moonlight? I like the concept, but don't want to go to any great expense.

Thanks.

hey! these lights are great! i just bought a setup from wal mart. the basic light kit $28(which includes a blue light and a green light, power plug and switch box, and 3 additional lights $ 8 bucks each(1 blue, 1 green, 1 red)

its worth every penny!!*BOUNCINGS

the lights are waterproof so you can put em in your tanks(comes with suction cups) and they make it look great at night!! its quiet and small so you can hide it easy too!

i went to sleep last night with them on and i had a great view! when your fish swim in front of them it makes a big shadow too!!

these are a deffinite (sp?) pick up for night time viewing!

I tried some a couple of years ago and they didnt last over three days. I belive that I just got some bad lights however. They are a neat concept, but they just dont go well with the 'natural' aquarium IMO.

Mabey if they had softer colors that actualy replicated 'moonlight', or at least the effect there off. All I have seen are the green, blue, red, and orange lights. The green looks ok, but just not enought light or color output from them.

Moonlight is just basiclly that, moon lighting! All it is, is a dim light like a moon. Does have anything to do with watts or lumens or wavelengths. Its an appearance thing. Imo, I wouldnt call the miracle lighting stuff moon lighting. More along the lines of Los Vegas lighting.
