Well, I have yet another red X cambo spawn with the same fish as my first successful spawn. There are TONS of eggs like last time but hopefully more of them will survive! They just spawned today and dad is on guard duty, lol.
From the January 2nd spawn I have three fry. They are adorable and starting to look like bettas, I can see red on their fins already. I had to add some baby guppies to their 10 gallon (which is almost full by now). My pregnant females decided to have drops within 2 days of each other. I rescued two from the community tank yesterday, and five today. I am still waiting on my gorgeous black and yellow female guppy to drop so I can save those guys too.
Word of advice: baby guppies are a great way to ensure that you will not have left over food in a betta fry tank. They empty their tummies every 20 minutes and will gladly eat anything...it also is easier to get the bettas moving and eating, along with weaning them onto powdered foods because they will try to copy and compete with the guppy fry.
