I just recently moved to a temporary location and had to put my Oscar, Pleco and Gold Severum in a 20 gal from my 55 for a few weeks. I have the 55 in storage but have the Bio Wheels sitting in the 20 gal with the fish until I move again, which is in a couple of weeks. Since I don't have much water to take to my 55, how should I move them back to the 55 with out more than 11 gallons of cycled water? Any feedback is appreciated.

well if the fish are in a 20 gallon, than you have 20 gallons of cycled water. so i would set up the 55 with half the water and an air pump. place about 5 or six gallons from the 20. re-fill the 20 than wait another day than add the fish and the final 20 gallons. and top off as necessary. In other words your going to need to have both set up for a day or so.

find a way to move all 20 gallons that you currently have.

what sinasster said. Do some small water changes on the 20 gallon and use the water you get from that to seed the 55 for a few days in its new location along with one of those filters. Leave some room in the 55 for the remaining water from the smaller tank once you move the fish.
