Hi everyone, I hope you can help a bit.
I've got a large 2yr old 8inch red claw crayfish. She has pretty much outgrown her 2ft tank so I've bought my dream tank (a 4ft 45g beauty) to move her into.
I'm wondering how long should I leave the tank to cycle before moving her into it?

I filled it with tap water, put in the water ager and a fair amount of the bacteria starter liquid stuff.

I also breed fancy guppies because they look good and she likes to snack on them from time to time.

So I'm thinking that since guppies can be a bit delicate I'll put a few of them in to start with and see how they go.

I guess I'm curious because I've read conflicting reports. Some say that crayfish are hardy and can handle water quality changes ok and some say that I should run the tank for up to a month before I put her in.

Anyone have any experience with this and could help me out?

thanks heaps.
A.

Yeah, start with the guppies. I added my crays to my new 75 gal. during the middle of the cycle (after about 3 weeks) and they did just fine. Course mine were still itty bitty and yours may be used to no ammonia and nitrite fluctuations, which may make a difference.
