Do crabs or snails attack each other? I thought these guys live peacefully amongst the live rock. Today I see there are a few piles of hermit legs which look like hermit crab remains........interesting. There are also the odd empty shell laying about.....

Do they molt like freshwater ones?

sometimes crabs will go after snails...or fight with each other. Also, when a hermit crab molts it looks like a whole little crab, so be sure its not just a molt there. At any rate, get any of it out of the tank...you dont want anything rotting in there.

You also want to be sure to have extra hermit crab shells around all the time...they grow and need bigger shells. I know the one crab I still have has changed his shell like three or four times since I got him less than 6 mos ago.

Yeah Ive seen hermits attack snails but not really the other way around, and yes they do molt like froggy said.
