I have a Bose speaker near my fish tank (due to space constraints in the apartment). The speaker is not a powerful one. Its a wall mounted speaker about 1 foot on top of the tank hood. I'm yet to have fish in the tank though. Would it stress the fish or cause any problems?

BTW I don't hear rock music. Its only country or soft music:)

I dont see a problem with my fish when I listen to my radio. But i have heard that Gouramis and other fish related to Gouramis are very shy fish and when around loud noises and they tend to get very stressed out and sometimes die when exposed loud noises for long periods of time. Hope this helps.

I know my cories don't like loud noises. I have my tank in my kitchen and if some one sets something down heavily or bashes anything about they go scurrying to the back of the tank rather rapidly. But they don't seem to mind chattering and people sounds. If you're playing it loudly with a lot of base (that would make the water tremble and be what they would pick up) that is what I would be concerned about.
