My 2g tank for work

Hey folks,

Well after the discussion in the plants forum, here's the new tank!

That'd be a dwarf honey gourami, sole occupant other than a couple MTS snails I tossed in. No filter, just heater and 15w screw in flourescent lightbulb.

Look like a good tank to sit on the desk at work?

Very pretty!! I bet most ppl would prolly think colored gravel is better then natural, but i think it's a very cute Tank!! Why no filter, don't u think it might get really dirty? I hate tanks without filters, it gets me annoyed all my little tnaks ahave filters lOL well bye

Actually the gravel is the next repair on the tank, once payday comes around (this was leftover stuff I had) I really hate the gravel!

Filtration, with such a small bio-load, I think we can get away without it. Only time will tell, but I will have to do more water changes to make up for the lack of filtration. But the bacteria should still gather, like in a goldfish bowl.

Cleanup is what the MTS are for, and eventually we'll add some Cardinica Japonica (amano shrimp) to help (gotta figure out how to cover the tank first).

The gorami looks soo tiny in there, could just be the angle though. Dont those 2 gal hexs come with tops? Or did it get lost? I know the one my mom had from 5+ years ago lost the plastic top as well as one of the filter parts... Where did you get a flourescent light fixture for one that size?

Just the angle, but he's only about 1" long. Yep comes with a top, still on there, just not in the picture but it had to be cut to fit the heater, which left a big gap, and I know from first hand experience, those amano shrimp like to jump to their death if they have enough space available.

Flourescent, is actually one of those nice screw in flourescents meant for in-home use. It's a _Very_ tight fit, but it can be made to fit.
