I woke up this morning to find the hatch on my crab tank pried open and my fiddler crabs nowhere to be found in the tank.
I finally found them hiding under my cat who was lying down under the tank stand

They seemed to be just fine and i put them back into their tank.
I went into the other room and i came out and my cat had gone back up there, gotten the lid open again and was helping to paw the crabs out.

She doesn't seem to want to hurt them she's more curious about them. She'll sit and watch them for hours and then curl up next to their tank and sleep

I have some very strange animals :D

yeh fiddler crabs are sneaky little devils. i had two who loved to hang out in my filter. I aslo had one who hitched a ride on my net one day, jumped to the floor, and camped out behind my dresser for a couple hours. when i tried to lure him out, he ran full speed to the bait, picked it up, and almost made it back before i netted him.

despite their quirks, it think they're great little monsters and I higly recommend them, especially for beginners. As long as your fish are making a mess of your substrate, the fiddler has food. They're like my grandmother, they can't stand to have junk all over the floor.

i'm not sure what their obsession is with the crabs :)
They could care less about all the fish tanks but the crabs...both of the cats love them...especially Lucy...she loved my hermit crabs when i used to have them too
