The more Rams you start with the better your chances of getting a breeding pair . Not saying that it won't work with 3, or even 2, but more will just increase your chances.

I think it might be possible to have a breeding pair of both. But if you did IMHO that would be just about all the fish you would be able to keep. And survival rates for either fish wouldn't be too high.

ok so i have my tank cycling. my livestock plans are:
3 German Blue Rams (i really dont care if i get a pair or not they are just cool looking fish)
1 Bichir
small school of barbs or tetras
does this sound good i believe everyone should get along. i will be putting in driftwood, rock, and some plants. as far as a clean up crew how should i go about that? i use to have snails in my old tank and i couldnt get rid of them they kept multiplying even after i cleaned out my tank and put in new gravel they came back. and if i have room for any other fish i'll take any suggestions
