MY FISH RUPTURED

He ruptured when I moved him to change his water. He is gonna die isn't he!

Oh how awful- probably, that definately sounds like a swim bladder thing, you might want to put him in the freezer, it's the most humane thing at this point- are you sure he ruptured?

I'm very sorry, and this makes me nervous to say considering I can't see the fish, and I am not an expert, but there are several threads on proper euthanasia on this board. I know that if you put a bit of vodka in the water, that will knock him out, then you put him in the freezer. He will just go to sleep. I'm so sorry but he is likely in pain and euthanasia is probably the kindest thing to do.

What do you mean by this? HOW did your fish rupture?

a fish just does not rupture from a water change... there had to be some problems going on firstly., and actualy a rupture is a strong word for it.
did you drop the fish?

and why take the fish out of his home to do a water change at all???
I keep my fish in the aqurium when doing a water change- they are fine.

Hi Ginai-
I'm not sure exactly what was going on there, but it sort of sounded like the fish had a big fat swim bladder problem. I am not positive, of course- Iggy suggested dropsy on the other thread about this fish and knows much more than I do-
