My ram won't eat. I haven't tried more than one kind of food (flakes), but I've wondered if not feeding for 2-3 days will encourage it to start eating the food? The other ram I have has no problems. There are also no territory issues between them-they are in separate tanks.

Fish love the bloodworms, and those are ok as a snack, but their diets need to consist of flakes/pellets. They should be fed these most part and frozen food and veggies are used as supliments. When I moved my JD it wouldn't eat for few days, I continued to feed it daily and eventualy it started to eat. Created a lot of junk at the bottom of the tank, but a couple water changes took care of that.

I've had the fish for a couple of weeks. Three days ago I separated the dominating ram, which was scaring the other away from the food. But the other ram is gone, and the fish doesn't eat anything. Is there a connection between the aggression of the tank mate, even after having it removed? As for health, I don't see anything wrong with the fish other than it is very thin.

Sometimes I see it pick at the ground a couple of times (Not actually picking up any food), but I've never seen it eat food even before it hit the ground. I've wondered if not giving food to it for 2-3 days would spark its appetite.

If you've had it for a couple of weeks, does it actually look like it's starving? Meaning, does it look emaciated, have a sunken belly?

If not, then you're worrying for nothing. The fish is obviously eating when you're not looking.
