I should probabl;y set up a heater soon...my parents aren't convinced I need one though.
BTW, this is coming from my dad, who's had quite a few fish from Parrot fish when he was still a young teenager to a whole load of bettas and guupies (beck when he was still a teen...)
Bu then again, it IS cold right now in Canada...unlike HK
I'll see iof my piano teacher still has her heater I can use.

Bettas are tropicals and need heat in order to be:

a) Active
b) Healthy Immune System
c) Confortable

76 to 78F is an ideal temperature for a betta. Lower temps make them sluggish, prone to fin-rot and fungus, and generally more dull in color.

68F and lower is quite dangerous to bettas, so 70F is cutting it really close.

Yeah bettas can survive pretty low temperatures but they dont enjoy it, as iggy said, there tropical fish and need a heater just as much as any other tropical.
