I have a 10gal freshwater tank with a filter for a 20gal tank, 3 guppies, 1 female betta, and 1 emerald cory. My water temp is is at 75 and I keep my PH at 7. Everyone is happy and healthy. I am thinking about either adding another fish or setting up a new tank. Any suggestions? I have had a freshwater tank for 20 years and have never had a saltwater tank.

It is a female crowntail betta. I got them (the betta and guppies) all at the same time about a year ago. I haven't had any problems yet. Thank you for the advice. I think I have decided to re-set up my 30 gal tank to put about 3 cories (plus the one i already have) and the guppies in. Any suggestions on tank mates for them? I will have a female crowntail betta by herself in a 10gal and then the 4 cories and 3 guppies in the 30gal?

What kind of betta is it? I would be extremely careful about keeping bettas and guppies together. If it were me, I definitely would not keep them together because they can kill each other. Sometimes it just depends on the personality of the betta though.
Males, yes. Females, not so much. I've kept two successful sororities and have had MINIMAL fighting between my girls. The only fighting (and it's not even really fighting, it's very mild fin-nipping) has been to establish their pecking order. Heck, my guppies were more brutal (to each other and to other fish...especially my neons) than my female bettas are.

You should look into getting some Von rio, or Bleeding heart Tetras, and maybe some Rasboras like harlequins, or Mosquitos, or some Danios.
