I can't figure if it is some kind of bruising or what. They are otherwise happy, but perhaps they are getting beat up on something in the tank. I have a jagged rock and that's about it.
spots? do they look like wounds or just spots? my dojo loach has lots of brown spots all over his body. they could be scratching themselves on the jagged rock but that would probably look like long scratches along their bodies, not "spots" but dojos are easily bruised because they dont have scales
In looking at them now, it would make sense that it would be bruising. Initially it was the smaller of the two but now the bigger one is getting them as well.
I have an eclectic tank. I have one of the dwarf, african frogs, two chinese firebelly newts, two loaches, three ramshorn snails and two other huge snails who's names escape me and one bumblebee gobe.
You know, I honestly don't think the newts go near them. They tend to hang at the top of the tank on a giant floating plant they both "chill" on when they aren't trying to bust out of the tank.
If it's a seasonal thing then I would assume the odd coloring will go away. I guess time will tell. They are eating really well and are behaving normally so I guess it's just one of those things?
