I can't figure if it is some kind of bruising or what. They are otherwise happy, but perhaps they are getting beat up on something in the tank. I have a jagged rock and that's about it.

Any of you hear of this type of thing?

Thanks!

spots? do they look like wounds or just spots? my dojo loach has lots of brown spots all over his body. they could be scratching themselves on the jagged rock but that would probably look like long scratches along their bodies, not "spots" but dojos are easily bruised because they dont have scales

In looking at them now, it would make sense that it would be bruising. Initially it was the smaller of the two but now the bigger one is getting them as well.

It's just really noticable. Will they go away?

You know, I honestly don't think the newts go near them. They tend to hang at the top of the tank on a giant floating plant they both "chill" on when they aren't trying to bust out of the tank. :)

If it's a seasonal thing then I would assume the odd coloring will go away. I guess time will tell. They are eating really well and are behaving normally so I guess it's just one of those things?
