OK, so I had my uncle come out (contractor/builder) and he said the joists had week junctions where they met the concrete wall (50's building codes) and had us brace those up, but luckily there is a concrete wall on either side of where we wanted the tank, so the floor is strong enough to hold it now! It was even a much easier and cheaper fix than I expected! YAY!!! Right?!.... not so much...
Day before yesterday was the big day! We spend hours stripping the tank down, loading the fish, gravel, decor, and as much water as we could into 18gal totes (and got most of it, all our inside faucets are softened, booo!) and get it all loaded up... WOW! What a ride! My heart was pounding sooo hard! Over railroad tracks, turns that freaked me out, stops at lights with water sloshing all over!! SCARY with a tank that size on an open trailer! BUT WE MADE IT HOME!!! So unload everything but the tank first, now time for the tank, we get it off, make it inside the house, literally almost on the stand and BOOM! The tank crashes to the floor, the back is destroyed... as is my heart... took me hours to get over that "I'm gonna puke" feeling... *SICK*
Needless to say, after some time breaking down and checking my blood pressure a couple times, we went back and got my 70gal and ended up staying up all night making that their temporary home... will be bringing the 75gal soon and splitting them up between the 2 until we can afford to replace the big guy. My son made me sad though... when we were putting the fish in the 70gal, he kept walking over to the 220 and pointing at it like "No, they go in here!" but at 16 months old, we just couldn't get him to understand that that tank is broken and won't hold water for his fishies...
So I hope everyone else had a good 4th for me because mine SUCKED!!! LOL But we had a do-over yesterday and at least got to enjoy some sparks with the kids and had a good time! I got over it, it's just glass, time, and money, none of which matters. We have a beautiful growing family, a beautiful new home, food for our bellies, luckily some other large tanks for temp homes so the fish are fine... what more could you ask for? This just means I have an excuse to get a new tank... not that I can upgrade or anything LOL, but what can ya do...
