They had their first fry about two months ago, up until a couple weeks ago their were two left, now I can't find any more...:( I'm not looking to seriously breed them anyway no fry loss is no big deal to me.
But not to fear!
The female has been holed up in the tree trunk again for the last five days, only coming out to eat. And the male is hovering over the top, keeping watch on the bottom, and displaying some beautiful colors.
Here is a couple pics of the trunk that is their "love nest" and the male who is looking so beautiful I had to take some pics.....

Those are some good shots of that male.

My male has never really colored up that much. My female on the other hand has more than enough to make up for it. She's probably one of the better looking kribs I've seen. If only I could get a good Picture of her. :)

If its a young pair, then I wouldn't worry to much about the fry. They will get the hang of parenthood after a few spawns. Nobody's perfect the first time. ;)

Would you know why my male is grey ? he has a reddish belly and only every now and again, he has the original krib stripes
I think the males generally are very emotionally colored ;)
Meaning (and this is at least my experience) when they are excited about something, then tend to color up. When they are ho-hum and placid, they tend to be more blander colored.
My male isn't always this colorful, it's just he and the missus are spawning right now.
Here is a pic or two of him "normally" colored....

nice kribs f8fan, and good to hear you're in for some more fry, they're great to watch.

Your male looks a little different to mine, how old is he, is he quite young?

As you're probably aware i dote on my kribs at the moment so thought i'd stick a pic of the male and female up - and see if you agree the males look slightly, only slightly, different, maybe it's a cultural thing, American and British kribs!!! Do you thinik there could be slight variation in the different countries?

f8fan- When you posted earlier I thought that you just forgot to put the picture up. But apparently Karma can see it, I see nothing at all. Not even a little red 'x'. Tis odd. Did you use the img tags?

Karma, that male is spectacular. Mabey sometime down the line many many years ago the majority of kribs imported to the UK came from a different collection point in the wild than kribs imported to the US. Its a possability. Kribs are so easy to breed that I would say the normal stock we see in the LFS have been in the countries for decades. Then again, could just be something in the water. :)

you know what, Orion, you are right! When I first posted the pics, I could see them. Then I shut the MFT page down, later on I got back online and read the post, and all there were, were red X's with the blank squares....

Here is a copy and paste of what I typed: I changed the G in the [img ] tag to a K, here only, to show you what I typed in....

Here is a pic or two of him "normally" colored....in my original post they were "g"s

Hmm..its never done that to me, but I always use small letters. That could have something to do with it.

i've had problems with images whan i try to host them on this site so now i use imageshack.us and have had no problems. Try using them as i'd love to see more pics of your male krib.

Thanks orion, fingers gcrossed his babies will looks as nice.
I was thinking the same that with their easy breeding very slightly differing strains could be evident in different counrties. Either that or it could be possible that my krib is more closely related to (fewer generations away) his wild relatives that your perhaps, but thats pure speculation.
It would be very interesting to research something like this and see if there were differences, be it in body shape, colour etc, maybe someday somebody will!

Check them out now, does it work? I can see them from my end.
I did a search in the lounge for free webhosts, I knew I had seen a thread about them, here it is:
http://www.myfishtank.net/forum/showthread.php?t=4606&highlight=web+host
And low and behold! There was a tip about posting images from freewebs!!!!
