It used to be a 29 gallon tank with a hang on back penguin and a mismatched hood with 11 Cichlids. It was a dirty tank that evaporated gallons a week. I have that fixd now.
Traded some fly fishing gear for a 44 gallon corner tank with stand and home-made canopy. It used to be a saltwater setup but my saulosi like it.
I ripped the lights out of the old 29 and screwed it into the underside of the canopy. Has a Marineland c-220 canister filter, koriola nano powerhead, hang on back skimmer with Rio 600 venturi pump.
I used the play sand from the bottom of the 29 and most of a 5 gallon bucket of live sand from the previous setup. I had some limestone from South Florida back yards and got some more, pressure washed and treated in PO4 for a day to oxidized any organics. Basically base rock. It looks like a saltwater FOWLER tank, but about none of the cost or maintenance.
