my o bruised head

my O is about 8 inch. long and hes in a 75 gallon tank...he sometimes scratches himself on the coral in it...resently i have found big indentaions in his head where i guess he bumped into the coral....there is no bleeding...just a loss of some scales...anyone know the reason for these actions of self bruising?

Boredom. More rocks, stuff to push..... what about putting a lragish plec or something else in there for him to think about.

Is this real coral or fake? If its real, it will slowly dissolve and change the water chemistry. Oscars are from the amazon and would do much better without dead coral in the tank. When you say he "scratches" on the coral, does he do it intentionally? If he does then it could be a sign of disease.

its fake...but he does scratch intentionally...so i'm guessing he doesnt do that jut cause he is itchy?! haha...do u know what it might be?...there is not sign of parasites or anything

might be the start of ich, my clowns started doing the same things right before the developed it. just watch him, if he does get it there are many cures.

as for the pits in the head, it might be hole in the head but only if he doesnt eat and stops swimming.

but its like bumps....some scales are pushed to the side...what does hith look like?...OH NO!....i hope he doesnt have it!!!...i sometimes give him feeders...but i havent for about a month

I saw the pictures...i think he has it...what do i do????...is it always fatal???....i just noticed he does have some white spots near his eyes...i never thought nething about them...what do i do??????????

scroll down on the pictures page on the last link. a ways down is what to do to treat your oscar. it has some recipes of food you can make to help, water changes, ect. it also has some of the causes under that. heres another link to an Oscar forum, kind of like this one but just for oscars. you can also try asking for help there.
