My poor Betta! What's wrong with him?

#1
I was feeding them last night, and one male Betta has something terribly wrong with him! His eye looks like its either 3 times its normal size, or its popping out of his head! Also, just below that same eye, it looks like he has something that looks like a small wart. He's not showing any signs that its bothering him, but it sure is bothering me!!!

Any suggestions? I've had him the longest and I don't want to lose him!

it very well could be popeye, which you can medicate. It also could just be an injury. One of my female bettas had the same thing a few weeks back. It wasnt white, just looked like there was a bubble on it, lol. it may just be from hitting things in your tank/the tank itself. There looked like a little red/black dot underneither kine's eye (it looked liek a bruise)...but same in your case it didnt seem to affect her behavior. It healed up in about a week or so, then she was fine.

if you could get a pic im sure that would help us diagnose it.

I tried to take a picture, but my digital camera sucks! LOL!

Thanks for the replies... I keep his tank quite clean, but I checked out the site you gave me mcshell, and the author said that even fish in clean tanks can get the pop-eye.

It is clear zanoshano.... looks more like a bubble that is just sitting on his eye. None of the other 4 have it... the three males are in their own tanks, and the two females share one.

I'm going to follow the instructions at the site mcshell gave me and see if that clears it all up.

Do either of you know if you can get the antibiotic at the pet store, or do you have to get it from a vet?

Thanks again!
