Thanks guys for your understanding. I'm glad she doesn't have to suffer anymore though. The end was kind of hard.
Just as a side note, I posted this to not only mention Skye's passing, but also as a little warnning to those of you who own birds, especially ones like Skye. I found out that she had a fatty tumor one day when we took her and her cagemate at the time, another parakeet named Sunflower, to the vet as well as my cockatiel, Rocky. We took Rocky because we thought he was sick, he is okay now, but the parakeets we took because of Skye.
My mom noticed that her chest seemed a little big and thought it was strange. The vet told us that not only were our birds overweight, but the two parakeets had fatty tumors as a result. Skye's was in her chest and Sunflower's was in her ovaris. The vet suggested we put them on a pellet died that would keep their weight down and lengthen their lives since they had these tumors. So, we did for both the parakeets and Rocky. It did help all three birds and Rocky is doing great. Anyway, that is what I want to make you somewhat aware of so that, hopefully your birds don't die of what mine did. Rocky luckily doesn't have a tumor and will live a long time.
