I have been to every pet shop in town trying to find out what this stuff is. No one knows but they all would like to know when I find out. It looks like veins growing on the glass. It wipes off the glass very easily. Another interesting note about it is it will disappear and reappear in other area's of the tank. The pics below were taken last night and the next morning they were gone only to be replaced by others like it on different locations on the glass throughout the tank.

Does anyone have a clue what this is??

It started about 5 days ago in my freshwater tank that has been set up for about 2 months now. To this point everything has been on the up and up. I have 3 sword tails (also 6 half grown babies), 4 fancy guppies (about 30 babies big enough not to be eaten), neon tetras, and a cory cat in a 29 gallon tank. I also have it heavily planted with live plants that seem to be growing very well with no algae. All of my water tests have come back saying that everything seems to be just perfect.

I've had aquariums for 30+ years and have never seen this.

Any help would be GREATLY APPRECIATED!!

THANKS!

that is very interesting. I have a theory but it is pretty ungrounded.

I saw Planet Earth, the Jungle episode, and i remember seeing a sequence where it showed amoeba-like growth patterns of some bacteria, and it looks kind of like the way this stuff is growing. Other than that I am not sure. Sorry.
