It has been three weeks since the first spawn hatched and I could not ask for things to be going better with them. There fins are becoming very visable, they are developing the blue in there eyes, and eye sight is getting better by the day. They had a small spawn, no more than 23 fry, but not bad for the first time.
The fry also have realy become more and more independant from the parents. Just moving about at will changing where they 'hang out'. This moring however I noticed something very odd.
This past week the male and female adults have been busy digging a pit in the sand, right under the holey rock where I first saw the first batch. Today when I came in to check on them about 15 of the fry was hanging right around the pit with the female. This struck me because the fry are usualy on the other side of the tank. My first thought was that they have spawned agian and being dutifull little offspring the first fry are helping watch over the new spawn.
I have looked in the pit and I dont see anything, but that dosent mean somethings not there. The fry around the pit were the only ones I have seen so far this morning. The female and male may have killed some of them, but the could easily be hidding out elsewhere in the tank. Either way I dont think I will be running short on Brichardi Fry anytime soon.
