hey everyone,
im a freshie but even before i got my tank i was interested in SW but i decided to start with a FW tank ive been reading up on SW tanks right and they are really expensive....so i have decided to possibly make a nano tank!!! ive read the stickies and have a basic idea of what i need....which is...
tank (10g)
substrate
heater
2 powerheads
salt(is it marine or aquarium salt??)
LR(should this be bought after the tank is setup with water in it??

is there anything i forgot??
i think i wanna do a FOWLR tank but i would like to do a reef but i dont know anything about it besides i would need a high power light correct? so if somebody could give me some info on nano reefs that would be awesome!!!!
thanks for reading and any advice for me on nano would be appreciated!!!

o and i dont know if this is going to be happening soon ar later so i might get a tank soon but not decide what im doing with it till later but a nano is at the top of the list!!!!
thanks again!!

You should also read all the stickies at the top of the Satwater General Discussion.

You really can't be doing the same thing you did in your freshwater tank where you added sensitive fish before the tank was cycled. You cannot be impatient with a saltwater tank.

to answer the question, yes, you can set up FOWLR and add coral later to slowly bring along a reef setup. the most important thing is to take it slow and monitor closely. setup and cycle your live rock first. LR needs light too, as much as you can until you can afford the reef light. if you just get the light now and add a little less LR to start with, you'd be better off in the long run. but always add things slowly and let cycle fully before adding anything else. LR first, cycle, critters, cycle, fish, cycle. again, go slow, and read the stickies. lordroad's nano guide is very well written and has all the advise you'll need. good luck!

to start id get the tank and get it filled up (yes u need water in it before adding rock) ... add your sand, add a few peices of lr... you need the tank to cycle first before adding fish ;)
