Ok...I have some good news and some bad news...and then a question.

First, part of the good news is that I found an acrylic nano cube at a garage sale today. Ya know the black kind with the plumbing in the back Lady had it and said that belonged to her daughter's boyfriend who had seahorses in it up until last fall and that he wanted to get "as much as possible" for it and I said "how about $10?" and she said "ok" :D SO I got a cute little nano cube for ten bucks. Good news continued is that I got it home, filled it up with water and wala it appears to hold water just fine. I also tried out the little LED light and the lights in the hood and they seem to work well.

Bad news. It looks like its pretty scratched up (when will people learn to be nice to acrylic??) but that I can deal with...and when I plugged it in the pump no worky. Crud. SO I have a cute little nano cube filled up in my bedroom (as if I needed ANOTHER new tank) and it appears that I need to replace the pump. I figure, thats ok. What can I expect for 10 bucks...no worries.

But then I looked closer (this is where the question comes in) and I cannot figure out how I could possibly take the thing apart to get the pump out??

I do not know what brand it is (where would a brand be? maybe inside the little hood?), but filling it up it appears to be like 6 gallons or so, so its a little thing. I can't like fit my hand down in there where the pump is to unattach it from the thing and pull it out. Does anyone have something similar and can help me out? I think *maybe* I could try unscrewing the little powerhead thing and that would allow me to pull the pump out, but I didn't want to try and then go and break it until I asked to see what you guys think. Can try to get pics if that would help...

ooh ooh update! :D I went to dinner with the tank off and the pump submerged, came back and its working! How sweet is that :D

I keep looking at pictures but none of them look the same as this one...I'll take some pictures tomorrow and see if anyone recognizes it. I looked around the tank for any kind of writing. Afraid I didn't look on the bottom before I filled it up.

OK here's some pics

Filled it up, cloudy from sand.

This is it with the top off. The actual cube is 12x12x12 so its probably a little less than 7 gallons depending on the amt of space taken up by the plumbing in the back.

And a poor shot of the top of the plumbing with the hood off.

And then I changed half of the water, put some LR in it and changed the table it was on...so here it is as of right now :D

Hmm I looked at Jebo's website and their tops all seem to be kinda JBJ-esque, but I looked at TruVu and it totally looks like one of theirs to me, although I don't see that one specifically. I'm sure it could be an older one? Aquasystem Micro Series NANO Model 10 FBH (22x10x18) This hood etc looks exactly like it.

Ah well...No matter, I think it turned out to be a pretty good deal whatever it is. hehe

Yeah, I guess I should research what one might put into a nano? lol

That is a super question...lol I haven't the foggiest idea. I was looking at like a hermit and a goby or something. There was one goby I was looking at, was wondering if it was popular or not, Catalina Goby, Saltwater Aquarium Fish for Marine Aquariums: Catalina Goby Very pretty... Or I had a clown goby once before to and he was super cute, unfortunately passed on because I didn't know that brine shrimp didn't have any nutritional value and couldn't figure out why he was losing weight all of a sudden (had decimated the pod population in the tank and I was feeding him live brine shrimp). SO I would kinda like to try again armed with some more knowledge. The rock is all from an established tank (the same one I got the rock for my 29 from) so I'm guessing it won't be too long before it's ready to at least support a hermit or a snail, but I haven't tested the ammonia yet.

I do remember reading that about the Catalina Goby, but I figure I live in Colorado so it'd be easy to keep the temp down from like September thru March...just the summer months that I'd be concerned about.

That Hi Fin Red Banded Goby should be called a candy cane goby :D He's cool lookin!

This guy is cute too Saltwater Aquarium Fish for Marine Aquariums: Griessingei Goby

Alrighty, so I've decided that this weekend I am GOING to get something for this tank. What shall I get? The store I go to usually has a few different shrimps and a few different gobies.

I'm thinking a shrimp. What kind of shrimp? I've never had a saltwater shrimp before... What do they eat?

I think TRe was suggesting the shrimp/goby pair that forms a symbiotic relationship, where they share a cave/hole.

This is the kind of pistol shrimp that pairs with certain gobies: http://www.liveaquaria.com/product/prod_Display.cfm?pCatId=1148

You could instead get a cleaner shrimp (cool looking, cleans parasites off fish) or perhaps a peppermint shrimp.
