nasty betta

my fighting fish seems to get along well all of the other fish i have (zebra danios, catfish) but flares up and chases the swordtails... i only have two swordtails, and although he doesnt attack them, he chases them constantly and looks really nasty!!!
my friend's betta seems to be friendly with all of her fish (angels, platys, dwarf gouramis, tetras) so do they just not like swordtails?
any thoughts or info would be helpful, thanx!!!

The swordtails might remind him of another male betta. Or maybe its the swordtails who picked on him? Male bettas are a little territorial, however they usually get along with swordtails. How big is your tank? Maybe he feels over crowded.

P.S. Angels and bettas should not be kept together as angels are quite tempermental and nip betta fins (and each others!).
