Need a tankmate

i currently have a 55g. Right now i have 1 jack dempsey that's about 2 1/2 inches. i had an oscar about the same size but i had to get rid of it due to the jack nipping at him. Is there any other cichlid that my jack will be compatible with?

Try a bigger Oscar, might work out, but then you'd need a bigger tank. Do you plan to upgrade this tank or keep this stock in this tank for a good while? If you upgrade, you have more options... Other than that, firemouths usually cohabitate OK with dempseys. Maybe convicts? Could definitly do a mid size pleco. Look into semi-aggressive or aggressive, medium, South American cichlids. Most any of them should work.

i thought about either a firemouth or convict. i'll look into that.

I had mine with a pink convict ( i think thats what theyre called ) they were fine together , stayed out of each others way , just build them each a home and they should be fine
