OK I am thinking of doing a small SW tank. I was thinking about this tank: TFO - Supplies with this Skimmer and not the filter that it comes with: Nano Reef Aquarium Water Quality: Fission Nano Skimmer Protein Skimmers And as far as stock plans I have a scallop thats in my 65G that is driving me nuts cause he keeps wedging him self into my rock and causeing it to topple, so he is moving into this tank. And I was thinking of may a Rainsford Goby and a Shrimp or just a hord of Peperment Shrimp. And as far as corals I was thinking just some Mushrooms and Polyps. What do you guys think???

skip on the fission nano skimmer.......a piece of crap that isn't worth two cents.......all you need to do is be vigilant in water changes, watch your evap rate and temp and you will be fine......looks interesting......and the scallop usually wants a well established tank as it is a filter feeder.......not sure is there is enough to support it in 3.5g...???? the shrimp gobie pair is cool I have a pair in my 20g......I just saw my tiger pistol shrimp push out his molt from his cave.....cool...... good luck, sounds like a plan and you know what you are doing......which is half the battle.

LOL. Its funny you say that cause I switched the big rock with some small ones from my other tank. I didnt realize that te rock that I bought was going to be so big in the tank. So this is what it looks like now.

I need help with equipment. Should I just leave the filter that it came with on and take out the pads?? Also Im wanting to do some Mushrooms and some Polyps, do you think that my light wil be ok?? And lastly do you guys think that a Rainsford Goby and a Red Banded Pistol Shrimp are ok to put in this tank??

I like the little tank it's cute (sssshhhh I'm not posting this I'm actually working on the move ;) (we are moving 100 + people from one building to another  )). I agree that the small rock is better than that one larger one.

Thanks Maha! I didnt even think about putting rock in there. LOL. I took out the media and put a few small porous pieces in there from my other tank. And instead of getting a bag of sand and having some left over I decided to just a take a little sand from my other tank. Its sorta funny cause I took so little out for the 2G that you cant even tell in my other tank. LOL. I also changed my mind on the Pistol Shrimp cause I found a pair of Camel Shrimp. :D I figured cause everything came from my other tank that the tank was safe for them. I also got a Polyp rock and 2 Mushrooms. Im going to hold off on any more coral cause I want to see how this stuff does with this light. I think it will be fine but...
Here are some pics: (sry I just put the sand in so its still a bit cloudy.)

one of the smaller gobies(1.5 icnhes or less) would look cool in there. IMO a shrimp and goby pair wouldn't do their best in a 3 gallon. Some gobies i was looking at for my 5.5 were the green striped goby and redheaded goby. There are also sexy shrimp and bumble bee shrimp that stay less then an inch and are very cool looking.
Edit: the camel shrimp will eat your zoanthids.

Yeah I read that and its the last time that I am going to listen to anyone. A guy that I work with (that does the tanks ) told me that it would be fine. There is no returns on SW fish at my work so I just fed the female to my Grouper. The male was dead when I got home. :( O well ya learn from mistakes.

Looks great......I would have probably gone with a shrimp/gobie pair and that's all. BUT I would do what I have in mine.....a wheelers gobie....max size is 2 inches and my tiger pistol shrimp. I just love this pair in my 20. they started out in my 10g and graduated with the upsize.....they are a pair of characters....You should be okay with a neon gobie or small green stripe in there, they stay really small and move around quite a bit. Your shrooms should do fine......and as Maha said, just add some live rock rubble toyour filter and where's your heater? watch your temps in small tanks as they fluctuate faster.

The rainsford would probably/possibly bond with a pistol shrimp and it would add some interest to the your tank as you are very limited with you livestock in such a small tank
