I agree. It's most likely just molting. I know when crabs molt, you aren't supposed to remove the exoskeleton from the water, but I don't know if this is the same with shrimp.

When I had ghost shrimp no one had said anything to me about weather or not its ok to take the exoskeleton out. I just did, everytime I saw one I hucked it into the garbage. Their easy to spot they will float to the surface of the water just keep a sharp eye out. Also they tend to get stuck in their exoskeleton and die. Well at least all 3 of mine did. It was poop!

Actually, you have alien shrimp there, Please keep checking your stomach for wounds in morning.

You should leave the exoskeleton in the tank. The shrimp eat it and it helps them build their new one.
