OK so a friend offered me this pleco and I need to know what type he is to see if I have space for him. He refered to him as a Goly Pleco, which I can't remember ever hearing, can't find on PCF, and he doesn't know the L#, but he sent me this pic. Not sure if the red is just the lighting or if he's really that red, still waiting on a reply to figure that one out.

Here he is...

BTW, I miss Pure. :(

Yeah, If I would have just understood the typo, I would have known exactly what it was, I can't believe the pic didn't ring a bell right off the bat, but as soon as I heard goldie, I knew, LOL. I don't mind the size, sounds great to me, just not sure weither or not this deal is going to work out... I'll update later.

OK, I got him (along with my long awaited electric blue jack dempsey :D ) but no pics just yet. Sorry, I was going to get pics, but our red tiger oscar apparently had a snail for breakfast (a big snail too) and he was kinda bloated and lethargic, so I didn't want to put my (larger) albino oscar in with him and risk the little guy. My plan was to use the tank the albino oscar was in to quarentine the ebjd, but since I coulden't move the oscar, I had to run the ebjd and sunshine/goldie pleco out to my mom's house and move all her tiny fish from her 70gal and quarentine them there. I was going to take pics of them there, but once we finally got them acclimated they were stressed, fading, and hiding. I will definitly get pics here before too long though.

OK Here are some crappy pics I snapped today, they do them no justice at all, but here they are...

Little stink picked the worst spot and angle for me to get a pic!

And here's big Blue, this pic makes him look SO BAD, the glass is filthy (kids poking at the glass) and he is so faded from the move and my parents had the lights off all day, then the flash washed him out pretty bad too, so forgive his color!

So just for the sake of his pride, this is what his color is really like LOL...

LOL P.C. I was waiting for you to see this, but you can't be jealous, you have zebras! LOL

Hey, question though, I can't seem to find the answer to this anywhere, are these guys fairly fast growers? He/She is doing fine with the mild mannered EBJD, but I am not sure I want to test him this small with my Oscars, there not so calm. He's about 4" now and fat, and my Oscars are about 5" and 7" right now (ebjd's about 8") by the end of this month I was hoping to put them all together, albiet with tons of hiding places, but I really don't want to loose this guy, for obvious reasons. My larger oscar attacks his heater and rips airlines right off of the airstones, he hasn't been with any other fish since I got him, but he's going in the tank LAST, after everyone else claims their territory.

Ditto, nice to see you back. :D

Humm... I read in one of the PCF articles on them that they grow fairly fast... slow growers? That sucks, I don't want the Oscars to outgrow him and think he's lunch.

Everything I've read on PF said they are slow growers, I could be mistaking them for the goldnuggets though.

As with any pleco diet (what and how often) and water temp will effect growth rates.
