need help sexing apistos

Ok I bought some apistos from a internet seller and he sent me a pair of triple red's. The problem is i think i have 2 males. if anyone can give me their opinions it would be helpful

this is supposed to be the female apisto cacatuoides

and this is the male apisto cacatuoides

These where sold as a m/f pr that where suppose to be adult sexable fish.
anyway any input would be appreciated.

I would say that you got 2 males. Where did you order them from?

apistodave...got them about a month ago...

this is my female apisto trifasciata..she has the shorter dorsal fins like i have read is characteristic for all female apisto

this is supposed to be the male apisto trifasciata...could it be a fmale and he packaged them wrong when he sent...but it has the characteristic long dorsal spike of the male. could be one of these is the female apisto cacatuoides and the one he said was the female cac is actually a male trifasciata?

well the male triple red in the second pic was IMO very old after researching some info yesterday and looking at his coloration compared to others of varying ages. Well last night he was acting funning and this morning he was dead.
