I have 5 tanks ... 3 of which are running right now.. I have a 55 gal freshwater community tank I am working on. Right now I have 2 danios and a cory cat in it. I have tried 2 times to add angelfish to it. I checked my water and am having a problem with it. I currently have well water where I live and just figured a lot out about it. The PH is about 7.8. Total hardness (gh) is in the 300 range.. (very hard ) and the (KH) is also VERY high. I have gotten an RO filter to try and get this water less hard where I can work with it.
Here is the problem I am having. I have done 3 water changes of 30 gal + each time. I have not moved the PH or hardness at all. The water I am using is from my moms house and testing it is perfect. It is 7.0 ph (GH) about 25 (KH) about40. After doing the water changes the new test in the tank is THE SAME...no change.
How can I get the hardness down where I can regulate the PH..
