Well I have a Eheim 2215, and I just explained what happend to me on the worst experience thread, so know I need someones help that has used this before. I have put the line connetors with valves on them so I can switch them off (the green tubes) so water doesnt come gushing out, but the intake and output things pour water out too when i take the lines off for servicing the filter, how do I stop the water from comming out the valves when i detach the green lines?? PLEASE I NEED HELP, I think I made this thread a little too confusing so If you think you can help me just post clarify and I will do my best to calrify the situation.

well if I understand you correctly there is no way to stop the water coming out until you break the syphon.
I put a bucket under mine when I disconnect it, and then just remove the pipe from the tank so it breaks the syphon
I have a 2226 but its all the same thing

okies - as this is obviously an un-solved problem, let's clarify exactly what's going on here.......

With a Fluval x04 can, (sorry about this comparison, but I don't run Eheims), you clamp off the in and out pipes with a two part lever, the first shuts the flow, the second disconnects the pipes - then having disconnected the pipes from the can itself, the pipe carrier is pulled free - at this point if there is any pressure remaining in the can, a small ammount of spillage is inevitable - about an egg-cup full.

With a Fluval x03 can, the pipes are shut off, then pulled free by breaking the seal between the pipe and the can - this can be messy - about half a cup full.

Using the above as a reference point, can you explain what's going on with your Ehiem (please)

I think I have solved my problem from your last post Purple, the clamp off the part with the lever is what I have too, I think I clamp both of them apart then take them off each other, I don't wanna try this until I have too, its running nicly now (i had the wrong tubes going to the wrong part for a hiwle too so it wasnt filtering correctly) now its nice and clear. But I will explain what happened to me since you asked. I went to do my first tank water chnage and gravel cleaning in my 46, and as I started to empty water out the spray bar which is at the top of the tank started to gurgle, and I realized it wasnt pushing out water (this is when i realized I had my intank house going to the spraybar, and the output nozel to the intake like filter part inside of the tank, and water drained out, so I thought i would finish doing my water chnage and such (BAD MOVE) and when I finished I went to take the hoses off to put them on the right part of the filter, and at this point I didnt have the two part levers one the hoses so I was ready for the water to start pushing out of the green hose form the tnak so I had a bucket, but to my dismay water started shooting out of the nozel itslef straight from the canister, and now i have water pouring form my hand out of the hose and from my canister, and I couldnt put the canister in a bucket because it owuldnt reach so I immediatly went to unscrew the hose form the output nozel so i could grab the canister and put it somewhere it could drain (meanwhile my tnak was emptying onto my floor) and when I got the green hose off the top of the output more water! I put the canister into a bucket and took the spray bar and intake parts out of the tank to stop the water form them. at this point 1/4 of my tank water was on my floor:eek: . So this is what happened so next time I will try this new strategy and see what happens. Thanks for helping me Purple and Somonas.*celebrate

I'm sorry OCC, but I LMAO through the "what happened" part. I'm afraid it happens to all of us at some point.

If nothing else works, try turning your filter off and capping the intake. That way if everything else goes wrong, there's only a small amt of water that can be dumped before the lines run dry. Maybe have something standing by while you try purple's idea first.

I heard this story the first time around and it's still funny now! :) Seriously guys, nothing wrong with the kit at all, this is what happens when you don't read manuals or instructions properly. In IT parlance, the helpdesk response would be "RTFM".

Who is Paul Teutul Sr btw?
