Ello, I currently I only have a 10g and 20g and am looking to expand to larger tanks eventually. Every once in a while I see second hand aquarium ads around town and consider buying them but I dont know what a good deal is and whether I should bother with a used tank.

Does anyone have a semi accurate price list for aquariums? For example, I saw an ad for a 75g aquarium for $100, (it didn't say what it came with) but I wouldn't mind knowing if thats a good price. I tried checking at big als, petsmart, superpet etc but they only have the prices of smaller aquariums.

How much should a 75g cost? with and without stand and equipment.

I'll tell you one thing now that 75g for $100 with or with out the stand and hood is an amazing deal and I would jump on it in a heart beat. I priced a 55g with stand and hood and I was looking at paying $600...get it if its still available

woah, a 75 for 100 $ thats an awesome deal!!!
i got my 55gal for $119 with hood and lights, no stand at my lfs. look at ads, or go to your lfs, they usually have low prices. stay away from big petstores 'cause they tend to be expensive. if you dont get a stand, be careful what you put it on because tanks are HEAVY- like 8.6 pounds per gallon of water + glass + gravel + filter + decorations, rocks, etc.

Usually for empty tanks in good condition we price around $1 - $1.50 a gallon. if there is equipment or stands etc, that can jump to $2 or $3. If the tanks come with everything including fish the price can vary wildly.

Lemme think....About $75-ish for a 55g, $150-ish for a 75g. These are usually tanks made by All-Glass. Tanks made by premium makers such as Oceanic usually will hold a very high resale, especially the Starphire glass ones.

It would help to target new tank prices (All-Glass):
$300 for a 100g
$200 for a 75g
$150 for a 55g (usually less for just the tank at ma & pa lfs)

I was able to pick up a 75g Oceanic (older model) for $100. I was going to buy a 45 for $75, but I just couldn't help myself! Sometimes, you can find the good deals if you aren't in a hurry, just keep a C-note tucked away just in case. Check out garage sales too. You can usually find ridiculously low prices on aquariums.
